SUMMARY:Artist Talk: Ariel Wilson + Matt Kowal
DESCRIPTION:Join artists Ariel C. Wilson and Matt Kowal for an in-gallery conversation on their exhibition\, from where the sun is\, to wherever you are\, currently on view in UMOCA’s AIR Space. \nDeveloped during Wilson’s 2025 Artist-in-Residence at UMOCA\, the exhibition traces a continuous cycle of daylight and darkness around the globe through live webcam imagery gathered across twenty-four time zones. Slow-moving and low-resolution\, the projected images foreground the technological systems through which many people now encounter landscape\, atmosphere\, and distance. \nTogether\, Wilson and Kowal will discuss the development of the project\, their collaborative process\, and the exhibition’s engagement with photography\, environmental observation\, global connectivity\, and the relationship between representation and lived experience. \nThe conversation will take place within the exhibition and will be followed by audience Q&A.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: from where the sun is\, to wherever you are
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate the opening of from where the sun is\, to wherever you are\, a collaborative exhibition by UMOCA Artist-in-Residence Ariel C. Wilson and collaborator Matt Kowal. \nDrawing on live sky imagery sourced from webcams across global time zones\, the exhibition unfolds as a slow\, immersive meditation on light\, time\, and perception—where day becomes night and technology acts as an active translator of the sublime. \nThe exhibition will be on display until June 6th\, 2026.
