SUMMARY:Opening: Put A Pin In It
DESCRIPTION:“Put A Pin In It”\n8.7.26-8.30.26\nA Pin sits at the intersection of purpose and play. Part adornment\, part fastener\, and so emblematic of the way that humans throughout time have taken useful\, everyday things and made them beautiful as well. \nPins and Brooches existed before many modern clothing fasteners\, and have been unearthed in archeological sites all over the world. Before zippers\, buttons or buckles\, pins were the most common way to hold clothing in place. Because humans have an innate sense of aesthetics\, and we signal meaning through objects\, invariably those pins also contain markers of societal standing\, such as rank\, status\, allegiance and the like. \nThis medium also allows us to say something without saying a word- since that is what personal style is all about. Pins are often overt as they shout out affiliations\, persuasion and a certain kind of belonging. They capture the zeitgeist of a time\, and can easily change with the spirit and weather of the moment. They signify loyalties\, politics\, interests\, protests\, or hobbies\, and show off a little extra about what is important to us\, or even how people should see us. A person’s style is communicated through materials\, silhouette\, color and texture\, and the pin is an accent that pulls it all together. \nFeaturing 31 Artists : \nFaye Marie Astra\nAlison Antelman\nSulo Bee\nJuan Carlos\nCaballero-Perez\nJolene Castañon\nSuyu Chen\nBen Cooke-Akaiwa\nSherry Cordova\nSusan Dunford\nLena Echelle\nLaura Fortune\nJill Baker Gower\nSandra Jo Hackbarth\nMeghan Korol\nAnnaliese Levaggi\nWill McConnell\nChristine Mighion\nJoão Oliveira\nSally Prangley\nKenna Roberts\nAlex Rudolph\nMiku Saeki\nLauren Selden\nEmily Spykman\nSydney Thompson\nOleh Tkachuk & Yasya Tsebruk\nIsa Della Valle\nGenevieve Williamson\nAgne Zaltauskaite \nImage Seen here Courtesy of\nSusan Dunford\n“The Big Barn”\nBrass
