DESCRIPTION:Public Reception: Friday\, March 6\, 5 – 7 pm \nArtist’s Q & A: Sunday March 22\, 3 pm \nBagatelles\, a painting and drawing exhibition by Silver City artist\, Mattoose\, opens on Thursday\, March 5. \nExcerpts by the artist:\n– For me the act of painting is a challenge. I do not set out to create a specific image or message from the start; I never know where I’m going. Rather\, the act of painting creates the painting and its idea. And\, if the challenge is good\, then the image just presents itself\, it’s a gift!\n-I aim for my work to transpose one’s attention and wonder to certain transcendental ideas; ideas that lie dormant in the depth of our objective consciousness.\n– I want my painting to feel as if it came instantly. So that\, in end\, there’s no idea to be interpreted\, rather a thing to be experienced.\n-At its best\, my work comes inexplicably and without method. \nExhibition Dates: March 5 – 28. \nGallery Hours: Thursday 11- 4\, Friday and Saturday 11-5\, Sunday 11- 3 and by appointment \nEmail
