DESCRIPTION:Historic Santa Fe Foundation (HSFF) is pleased to announce an exhibition featuring a vibrant new collection of watercolors by Santa Fe–based artist Dr. James Doyle. The exhibition highlights Doyle’s distinctive approach to capturing the iconic Aspen groves of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains through rich color\, simple graphic lines\, and dynamic energy.\nThis focused body of work stems from Doyle’s 30-year personal tradition of making annual spring and autumn treks into the local high country. \n“Aspen trees in the southern Rockies are a classic subject for many painters and photographers\,” says Doyle. “I have been making annual spring and fall visits to our Aspen groves in the Sangre de Cristos for 30 years. It is a tradition of beauty\, solitude\, and crisp mountain air. This collection of watercolors is my approach to capturing the energy of these living communities with simple graphic lines and rich colors.” \nWorking in a deep\, vibrant key\, Doyle challenges traditional watercolor boundaries by pushing for saturated tones\, structural balance\, and fine craftsmanship. DESCRIPTION:Traces: Known and Un-Known\, a solo show of new work by Christy Hengst\, opens Friday November 6\, 5-7pm at El Zaguan at 545 Canyon Rd.Santa Fe\, NM\, with live music by Lone Piñon.\nAlso known for her public art pieces like bus stops\, birds in the park\, and art in the loo\, in this show Hengst is exploring archetypal images\, dreams\, and the lasting influence of things and people long gone. The work delights in many different media\, including lithography and the sensuous combination of porcelain and beeswax.\nThe show runs through November 28th\, with special events each weekend.\nEl Zaguan art gallery is also the home of the Historic Santa Fe Foundation.
