SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Through The Lens\, by Holly Wilson
DESCRIPTION:(Scottsdale\, AZ) Bonner David Galleries is pleased to announce Through the Lens\, a new exhibition by contemporary Indigenous artist Holly Wilson\, opening March 5 and on view through April 2 at the gallery in Scottsdale. The opening reception coincides with the annual Heard Museum Indian Market weekend and the Scottsdale Native Art Walk\, making it a vibrant moment for collectors and art lovers visiting the area. \nThe gallery will hold a special opening reception on Thursday\, March 5. Wilson will be on hand for the evening to meet with collectors\, discuss her work and provide insight into this new exhibition that includes works completed in bronze\, glass\, encaustic and paint. \nThrough the Lens explores how perspective and personal experience shape our understanding of the world. Drawing on the idea of multiple “lenses\,” from the literal lens of a camera to the metaphorical lens of human perception—Wilson invites viewers to reconsider how reality is formed\, interpreted\, and transformed. \n“From the lens of a camera to the lens of your eye\, we are constantly filtering what we see\,” Wilson explains. “Our experiences inform our perceptions\, creating our own version of reality. With this body of work\, I want to lift that veil for a moment—to open a space where viewers can glimpse possibilities across many realms\, both real and imagined.” \nEmail

SUMMARY:Exhibition Opening: Endurance of Light: New Work by Rich Bowman
DESCRIPTION:Endurance of Light\, the latest exhibition by expressive painter Rich Bowman\, opens at Bonner David Galleries in Scottsdale February 26th and reflects the artist’s ongoingfascination with the sky—its constant transformation and its enduring hold on his imagination. \n“The sky remains both a subject and a force for me\,” says Bowman. “Ever-changing\, yet timeless\, familiar\, yet endlessly surprising. It is a presence that continues to pull me back\, inviting contemplation of light\, atmosphere and scale.” \nThe paintings in this exhibition span a wide range of approaches and moods. Central to the show are Bowman’s signature cloud and sunset paintings\, where light and color act as the primary emotional drivers. These works emphasize atmosphere over narrative\, allowing viewers to engage intuitively with shifting skies and luminous horizons. \nInterwoven throughout the exhibition is a subtle influence of the American Southwest. Rather than explicit references\, this sense of place emerges through nuanced changes in palette\, heat\, and horizon—suggesting landscape without defining it outright. The result is a quiet grounding of the ethereal\, where atmosphere and environment exist in balance. \n“Some of these pieces push toward more extreme perspective\, exaggerating space and viewpoint to heighten the viewer’s physical and emotional relationship to the sky\,” says Bowman. These compositions expand scale and immersion\, encouraging a deeper awareness of the vastness overhead and the act of looking itself. \nEmail

SUMMARY:Michael Carson: Stuck in Italy
DESCRIPTION:Bonner David Galleries Scottsdale presents Stuck in Italy\, the latest solo exhibition from renown figurative painter Michael Carson\, on view February 12–28 in Old Town Scottsdale\, celebrating over twenty years of Carson’s career and his ongoing dedication to creative exploration and the joy of painting. \nFor Carson\, longevity as an artist depends on keeping the process alive. “If it’s not fun\,” he notes\, “it comes across in the work.” After two decades of painting\, Carson became increasingly aware that repetition and routine could dull the vitality of his art. Stuck in Italy emerges from a conscious effort to slow down\, step back\, and rediscover the sense of play that first drew him to painting. \nMuch of the inspiration for Stuck in Italy traces back to Carson’s most recent European travels. Rather than literal depictions\, the influence appears through atmosphere and surface—ancient plaster walls\, shifting light\, and the understated elegance of European architecture. These elements bleed into the paintings as textured grounds\, luminous color\, and spatial ambiguity\, evoking personal memory rather than the place itself. \nCarson’s approach to painting is intuitive and improvisational. Working on as many as ten canvases at once\, he moves from one to another without rigid preplanning\, allowing mistakes\, revisions\, and chance discoveries to remain visible. He likens the process to free jazz—grounded in skill yet open to the unknown. \nEmail
