SUMMARY:Opening: What Remains: Remembering Paul Steiner
DESCRIPTION:Opening reception for “What Remains: Remembering Paul Steiner\nFriday\, August 7th\, 2026 from 5-7PM\nExhibition runs through 9/12/26 \nOpening on the anniversary of his passing\, this memorial exhibition gathers a selection of landscape paintings in oil on canvas and panel by Paul Steiner (September 11\, 1951–August 7\, 2025). In these works\, creek\, meadow\, canyon\, and stand of trees become more than places: they are moments of attention held against time\, where light settles softly upon the land and the ordinary world is made luminous. Painted with humility\, tenderness\, and an abiding faith in looking\, Steiner’s landscapes remain as enduring as the paths and waters they depict—an elegy\, a celebration\, and a lasting testament to a life devoted to seeing. \nImage: Paul Steiner\, No title\, n.d.\, oil on panel\, 16 x 12 in.

SUMMARY:Opening: Jazmin Novak: Close to Home
DESCRIPTION:Opening reception for Jazmin Novak: Close to Home\nFriday\, August 7th 5-7PM\nExhibition runs through Saturday\, September 12th\, 2026 \nBringing together works created over the past several years\, this exhibition explores themes of memory\, relationships\, and belonging. Through cast glass\, metal\, and stone\, Jazmin Novak reflects on the ways we care for ourselves and one another\, finding moments of resilience\, vulnerability\, and healing. Created in both New Mexico and during her MFA program at Alfred University in New York State\, the works reveal an artistic practice grounded in personal experience\, material exploration\, and a deep connection to the natural world. The exhibition invites viewers to pause\, reflect\, and consider the relationships that shape who we are. \n“As a Diné sculptor\, I explore connection\, identity\, and shared humanity from an Indigenous perspective. My work centers on relationships—with the land\, ecosystems\, and the people who care for us. Working in metal\, stone\, and glass\, I use animal figures as storytelling tools to explore lived experiences.” – Jazmin Novak \nImage: Jazmin Novak (Diné)\, Moving Towards Tomorrow No. 2\, 2025\, Cast Glass\, 16”h x 8”w x 16”d. SUMMARY:Opening: Carl Smith: Zenith
DESCRIPTION:At the center of things\, a light gathers itself—\nnot loudly\, but the way frost finds a field before dawn. \nEach line reaches outward\, touching another\, until the whole panel seems to hold a quiet weather of stars. “Zenith” reminds us that even in darkness\, order can bloom from the smallest mark\, widening into wonder. \nCarl Smith’s “Zenith” (2026\, acrylic and metallic ink on panel\, 12x12in.)\, will be on view beginnging 6/12\, 5-7 PM\, through July 11th\, 2026 at Big Happy.

SUMMARY:Opening reception: Lindsay Iliff: Re/membering
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the opening reception for Lindsay Iliff’s solo exhibition\, ‘Re/membering’\nopening reception 6/12 from 5-7PM\nexhibition continues through 7/11 (closed 7/4) \n“Through my work I choose to Re/member: connecting fragments of what has been lost-honoring and drawing strength from our living planet.” – Lindsay Iliff \nLindsay Iliff’s work provides a ground for the artist and the viewer to reclaim our vital kinship with all that lives. The apparent loss of this essential relationship on a cultural level creates deep suffering in the culture(s) that loses sight of this truth. Iliff’s clay sculptures\, informed by the ancient landscape of New Mexico\, and by her attraction to ancient plant species and stupas\, remind us of the gift of our extensive community. \nImage: Lindsay Iliff\, Far Side of the Moon\, 2024\, ceramic\, 12.5 x 17 x10.5 in.
