SUMMARY:SUPERMALEVICH: The Poetry of Place
DESCRIPTION:Archway Gallery is pleased to present SUPERMALEVICH: The Poetry of Place\, an exhibit featuring watercolors\, drawings\, and urban sketches by Maksim Koloskov—on view October 3 through November 5\, 2026. Koloskov\, working under the artistic identity SUPERMALEVICH\, transforms city streets\, architectural landmarks\, waterfronts\, and fleeting moments of life into poetic records of place. Attend the opening reception Saturday\, October 3\, 5 to 8 p.m.\, when guests can meet the artist and enjoy the artist’s talk starting at 6:30 p.m. \nTrained as an architect and internationally recognized as an architectural illustrator\, Archway artist Maksim Koloskov brings his unique perspective to the urban landscape—one that balances structure with emotion\, precision with spontaneity\, and observation with memory. His work invites viewers to slow down and rediscover the beauty hidden within familiar environments: The changing light on a downtown façade\, the quiet reflections of a harbor\, the rhythm of pedestrians moving through a city\, or the atmosphere of a distant street in Spain. Each work reflects a keen eye for atmosphere\, light\, and human connection\, transforming ordinary scenes into extraordinary visual experiences. \nSUPERMALEVICH: The Poetry of Place features a body of work that is both deeply personal and universally relatable—a visual journey that carries the viewer through cities\, landscapes\, and human experience. \nMost of the exhibit’s works are watercolors painted en plein air on the streets of Houston and Galveston or on his recent travels to Spain and Japan. A prolific sketcher\, Koloskov carries his sketchbook and pen at all times. “I always find a moment to sketch something that catches my eye\,” he comments.

SUMMARY:Blue Heartstrings
DESCRIPTION:Archway Gallery is pleased to present Blue Heartstrings\, an exhibit featuring new paintings by Katherine Rodgers—on view September 5 through October 1\, 2026. This exhibit features watercolor works of mammals\, birds\, and fish\, painted mostly in blue. Rodgers is donating a portion of the proceeds to the nonprofit organization\, HeartGift\, which brings children from around the world to the United States where they are provided life-saving surgery to correct congenital heart defects. Attend the opening reception Saturday\, September 12\, 5 to 8 p.m.\, when guests can meet the artist and enjoy the artist’s talk starting at 6:30 p.m. \nRodgers is dedicating her show to her sister\, Laura\, who was born in 1972 with a condition called tetralogy of fallot. One of the first babies to be operated on by Dr. Denton Cooley in Houston\, sadly she passed away after the surgery at the age of almost three. But her short life left an impact on her family. Trying to understand her death led Rodgers to study medicine and become a nurse. Babies with heart defects are often referred to “blue babies” due to poor blood perfusion that happens when the heart does not pump properly. “Therefore\,” explains Rodgers\, “in Laura’s memory\, I am painting a gallery-worth of animals mostly in blue and calling the show Blue Heartstrings.“ \nPredominantly a self-taught painter\, Rodgers’ work is deeply inspired by nature and the world around her. Since returning to Houston in 2022\, she has devoted herself to teaching watercolor to students of all levels at the Watercolor Art Society of Houston. Visit archwaygallery.com to learn more about the artist and her upcoming show.

SUMMARY:Opening: Road Trips
DESCRIPTION:Hit the road with artist Lisette McClung as Archway Gallery presents Road Trips\, a vibrant exhibition of paintings inspired by a decade of travel and discovery. On view August 1 through September 3\, 2026\, the exhibit features both plein air and studio works capturing the beauty of landscapes\, villages\, ranches\, and cities across the United States and Europe. Meet the artist during the opening reception on Saturday\, August 1\, from 5 to 8 p.m.\, with an artist talk beginning at 6:30 p.m. \nPainting outdoors has been McClung’s lifelong passion\, allowing her to capture fleeting light\, color\, and atmosphere that later inform her larger studio works. A Houston-area artist since 1990\, McClung has earned recognition through juried plein air competitions across Texas and Louisiana following her retirement as a high school art educator. Road Trips allows visitors to experience the joy of travel through expressive landscapes that celebrate the beauty waiting just beyond the next turn.
