Make a beautiful lantern with a soft glow. Wabi-Sabi, the beauty found in nature, will be our inspirational thread. We’ll build structure with rattan and apply handmade paper to your form. Handmade paper and electrical components are provided. Workshop hours: Saturday, 10am-4pm

Wabi-Sabi Basketry Workshop

During this 2-day workshop, we'll use various basketry materials such as rattan, round reed and handmade paper along with ink and indigo dye to create a “Wabi-Sabi” inspired contemporary open vessel form. Learn how to make paper with abaca and flax roving fibers, then apply your textured paper to the form creating a contemporary basket. Monoprint and eco-dye will be explored as well. 10 am-4 pm.

This 4-day weekend workshop is designed to give you an opportunity for concentrated studio time in a quiet garden setting tucked back of Canyon Road. You will learn how to make paper with fiber linters and build a sculpture with rattan using a lashing technique. Your handmade paper can be added to the form, or not. Hand Papermaking Workshop

Let your inner-child play with water in the desert. We'll spend the day making paper with Abaca (Musa textilis) and Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L). Locally foraged plant material can be included to add color and texture to your paper. Handmade paper is a wonderful medium for book art, collage, casting and ink applications.
