Rotate Orbit Whirl Shuffle Dial Twist is a two-channel video installation projected on opposing walls that explores clay, sound, time, and place as materials.
Her work uses two distinct sounds to establish a connection between her clay musical instruments and the surrounding natural grassland. One is created by the instruments themselves, and the other is an overlay of ambient sounds from the environment itself. This intimate performance between artist and place is recorded and then projected in the gallery, making sound and environment tangible materials.
Time is also a material that Garnica examines through place. The grassland has a history rooted in geological time, connecting past and present. Within the gallery, the videos loop at various intervals, leading to chance-made compositional arrangements. Throughout the day, these arrangements evolve, providing distinct experiences for viewers.
Garnica’s sonic and sculptural installation creates a space of sensory absorption, where time, sound, and place blur, and the boundaries between the human-made and the natural world dissolve.
