Industry Standard is on view August 12–September 24, 2022 at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center.
Artists Meggan Gould and Andy Mattern explore different photographic guidelines and tools in this exhibition to push the boundaries of what we think of as a photograph. Mattern, inspired by once-popular “Kodaguides” and original desktop patterns found on early Apple computers, delivers new images that don’t fit neatly within the box of the medium. Gould’s work infuses flexibility into the often rigid structures of photography by freeing pigmented ink from the printer into other objects, like thread that is then used for stitching. Together, Gould and Mattern create a visual conversation about how photographic tools and conventions can be rethought to expand the notions of what we can expect and accept from the medium.
Opening reception will be on Saturday, August 13 from 5 to 8 pm. Please check the website for up-to-date information on our COVID-19 policy.
On Wednesday, August 24, a virtual Zoom discussion with the artists will take place. Separate registration for this special programming is required through CPAC’s website.
The show can be viewed during normal gallery hours, Tuesday-Friday 11 am-5 pm and Saturday 12-4 pm.
