A new frame of reference to a culture that’s steeped in tradition.
Experience vibrant cultures, diverse faces, and a journey that inspired the upcoming exhibition “I Met You Along the Way: Portraits from Latin America,” featuring stunning photographic portraits. As part of Denver’s Month of Photography, artist Colleen Hennessy uses her camera as both a bridge and catalyst to capture the beauty of everyday life and the rich traditions of the people in this region. Her intimate series is on display in the Leyden Jar from March 27th – April 20th.
Through her travels, Hennessey tells the stories and captures the emotions of the vibrant Mexican and Honduran cultures that have deeply inspired her. “Honduras has truly claimed my heart as my and (adopted country),” Hennessey shares.
“After dedicating 27 months as a PeaceCorps volunteer, I forged profound friendships that transformed my experience into a sense of belonging. Through my lens, I aim to share the stories and emotions of the people who welcomed me into their lives, capturing not just images but the essence of community, resilience, and connection.”
From the mountaintops to the city streets, get a glimpse into the lives of the people who welcomed Hennessey as she embraced these cultures as her own. “I Met You Along the Way: Portraits from Latin America” opens with a reception on March 27th from 6-9 PM.
