FIBRUARY: A Contemporary Fiber Art Exhibition

Visitors will explore a diverse range of fiber-based artworks by a talented collection of local artists and will gain insight into the labor and care behind contemporary making. It connects to a wider moment in which communities are valuing local artists, tactile experiences, and meaningful human connection, offering a counterpoint to fast, digital, and disposable culture. Participating artists include: Penney Bidwell (charcoal, embroidery); Stephanie Carlo (fashion collection—apparel); Risa Friedman (fiber panels); Carla Gonzalez (recycled cardboard clay); Heather Hauptman (embroidery on fiber); Sarah Johnson (Crochet); Megan Morgan (upcycled burlap, traffic paint, vehicle suspension coil); Tamara Mahoney (contemporary fiber); Carmela Murphy & AJ Dubler (stop-motion animator, fabricator, and screenwriter); Jennifer Pettus (fiber-based mixed media); Julie Rothchild (fiber art); Nora Schuchat (hand embroidery and painting on paper); Heather D. Schulte (cotton embroidery thread on cotton Aida cloth); Karin Soderholm (mixed fabric collage).

Curator Megan Morgan is a fine artist and graphic designer based in Louisville, Colorado. She owns and operates Strange Bird Designs with her husband, Jamie, and she participates in art exhibitions throughout Colorado.
