Diana Noh: reflect

Strata Gallery presents an Emerging Member solo exhibition reflect by Chicago-based artist Diana Noh. Noh’s photography reconstructs distressed images of abandoned spaces and landscapes to confront the trauma of growing up between cultures. Her work is grounded in a process of destruction and repair—tearing, burning, stitching, and restoring photographs to visualize emotional recovery. She uses architectural structures as metaphors for the body, transforming fractured imagery into sites of introspection and healing. Through the material tension between hand-stitching and machine-sewing, her practice navigates the boundaries of control and surrender. The resulting layered, semi-sculptural works offer a space of refuge and reflection, where the act of rebuilding mirrors the reconstruction of self.
