A Room of Her Own: A Women’s History Month Exhibit

The Mad Hatter Gallery’s March exhibit is A Room of Her Own, in celebration of Women’s History Month. The title of the exhibit takes its inspiration from the work of Virginia Woolf, who in her essay, A Room of One’s Own, published almost a century ago, asserted that creative women need time, space, and economic freedom.

A Room of Her Own will feature the work of 13 diverse women artists, each bringing her own perspective to a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, mixed media, and video. The exhibiting artists are: Nyssa Barrick, Juliana Coles, Mary Diesel, Helen Geglio, Linda Guenste, Sandy Hill, Barbara Houghton, Jaswant Khalsa, Heather Murphy, Abby Osborne, Brea Sargent, Leslie Toombs, and Lesli Zerr. Exhibiting artists reside in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Corrales, Las Cruces, South Bend, Indiana, and Alpine, Texas.

A Room of Her Own will be on exhibit March 5–March 29.
The First Friday opening reception will be held March 7, 5pm–8pm.

The Mad Hatter Gallery is located at 221 N. Main St., Suite C, Las Cruces, NM.
The gallery’s hours are Wed.-Fri., 11am-5pm; Sat., 10am-3pm, with extended hours on First Fridays and for other events.
