SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Speaking Ancestors | [Re]Awakening Spirit
DESCRIPTION:The Liliana Bloch Gallery is proud to present Speaking Ancestors / [Re]Awakening Spirit\, a new exhibition by Kelly Tapia-Chuning that invites viewers to reflect on ancestral knowledge\, memory\, and stewardship that carry across the generations. \nRooted in the Indigenous principle of the Seven Generations\, which is credited to the Haudenosaunee Confederacy (Iroquois Confederacy) but echoes across Indigenous cultures throughout the Americas\, the principle highlights how our current actions are shaped by our ancestors\, and in turn\, we shape the generations yet to come. \nTapia-Chuning translates these principles into seven offerings\, consisting of serapes that the artist deconstructed and reconfigured\, each one representing a generation of ancestors. Tapia-Chuning uses symbolic materials as anchors across time that mark cycles of renewal\, migration\, grounding\, protection\, and guidance\, resisting the linear constructs of time.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Saints\, Puppets\, Monsters and Tongues
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Puppets\, Monsters and Tongues is a solo show that presents large-scale new work by Mariel Miranda that confronts the entanglements of migration\, faith\, sexuality\, and labor. The series was developed while navigating the U.S. immigration system and the threat of displacement. Insomnia\, repetition\, and confession shape the work. Incompatible fantasies of religious iconography collide with erotic playfulness\, producing figures that are at once disciplined and defiant. Devotion and desire emerge as both survival strategies and aesthetic methods. \nOpening Reception \nSaturday\, February 21st\n7PM – 10PM

SUMMARY:Concert: The Ten Tenors
DESCRIPTION:Australian music ensemble The Ten Tenors returns to the Lensic for an evening of ten-part harmonies and show-stopping choreography. The Australian group\, celebrating its 30th year in 2025\, has toured the world over with their irreverent and clever interpretations of operas and soulful ballads to classic rock and pop songs. \nSince their very first performance in Brisbane in 1995\, The Ten Tenors have established themselves as one of the world’s top vocal groups. What was meant to be a one-off corporate gig put on by a group of blokes from Brisbane’s Conservatorium of Music has turned into a musical touring juggernaut.

SUMMARY:Exhibition Opening: Endurance of Light: New Work by Rich Bowman
DESCRIPTION:Endurance of Light\, the latest exhibition by expressive painter Rich Bowman\, opens at Bonner David Galleries in Scottsdale February 26th and reflects the artist’s ongoingfascination with the sky—its constant transformation and its enduring hold on his imagination. \n“The sky remains both a subject and a force for me\,” says Bowman. “Ever-changing\, yet timeless\, familiar\, yet endlessly surprising. It is a presence that continues to pull me back\, inviting contemplation of light\, atmosphere and scale.” \nThe paintings in this exhibition span a wide range of approaches and moods. Central to the show are Bowman’s signature cloud and sunset paintings\, where light and color act as the primary emotional drivers. These works emphasize atmosphere over narrative\, allowing viewers to engage intuitively with shifting skies and luminous horizons. \nInterwoven throughout the exhibition is a subtle influence of the American Southwest. Rather than explicit references\, this sense of place emerges through nuanced changes in palette\, heat\, and horizon—suggesting landscape without defining it outright. The result is a quiet grounding of the ethereal\, where atmosphere and environment exist in balance. \n“Some of these pieces push toward more extreme perspective\, exaggerating space and viewpoint to heighten the viewer’s physical and emotional relationship to the sky\,” says Bowman. These compositions expand scale and immersion\, encouraging a deeper awareness of the vastness overhead and the act of looking itself.

SUMMARY:Workshop: Tetrapak Printing
DESCRIPTION:Tetrapak Printing \nwith Faith Williams Drysten \nThursday February 26\, 6-8:30 pm \nJoin us at 6 pm for a short talk with artist Faith Williams Dyrsten about her work. The 2-hour\, hands-on workshop will begin at 6:30pm where participants will explore TetraPak printmaking by transforming everyday food packaging into printing plates. You’ll learn how to engrave lines and shapes\, add highlights and texture\, and use a printing press to create at least one finished print. This process is similar to traditional drypoint printmaking\, with an eco-friendly twist that emphasizes reuse and experimentation. No prior printmaking experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to get inky. \nThis event is hosted in conjunction with the Futures: 528.0 Regional Printmaking Exhibition on view through March 21 at the Center for Visual Art. The exhibition features artists residing within a 528.0-mile radius of Denver\, Colorado. This juried exhibition seeks to celebrate the expansive diversity of contemporary printmaking found within this western region and aims to highlight both traditional and alternative printmaking methods being used in the field of contemporary printmaking. It is presented in partnership with Denver’s Month of Printmaking. \nTickets are $40 for CVA members and $50 for non-members. Participation is limited to 15 people.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Francisco Mayor Maestre and Harriet Yale Russell: Overheard Conversations
DESCRIPTION:Whether in Francisco Mayor Maestre’s remnants of imagined working-class lives\, expressed in abstracted images of suburban apartment façades on the outskirts of Madrid\, or in the exotic\, playful and organic abstract internal world depicted by Harriet Yale Russell\, it seems overheard conversations inspire both these artists’s explorations. \nIn a synergy of imagination and structure\, an artist creates a unique visual world. As independent and solitary as that act appears\, it most often requires finding community\, even a sentience\, within the work itself. In this place of dialogue\, the tools of shape\, color\, line\, edges\, rhythm and repetition converse within the artist’s mind and with the artist’s marks to produce a result. From this conversation\, the work evolves over time to resemble\, perhaps even become\, a known\, felt-sense world the artist can share. \nIn an unexpected dialogue between the works of both Francisco Mayor Maestre and Harriet Yale Russell\, the exhibition Overheard Conversations invites viewers to enjoy symbiosis and meaning in the visual worlds of each.

SUMMARY:Talk: Together With Veterans Taos\, Veteran Story Series
DESCRIPTION:Join Together With Veterans Taos Coordinator\, Valentina Livingston\, for a panel conversation examining how the GI Bill shaped Taos’s artistic landscape not only through those who benefited from it\, but also through those who were excluded. “Make Absence Visible (Not Silent)\,” will pose the question of\, “Who was left out\, and how did they shape the same creative ecosystem anyway?” Panelists will explore the parallel pathways that sustained Taos’s art scene\, including informal mentorship\, shared studios\, collaboration\, critique\, and labor. \nImage: Courtesy of Valentina Livingston.

SUMMARY:Exhibition Opening: Ever-Changing Nations
DESCRIPTION:Ever-Changing Nations opens at Trotta-Bono Contemporary in Santa Monica Friday\, February 27th to coincide with Frieze Los Angeles and the United States’ 250th anniversary. The exhibition presents a sharp\, visually compelling reconsideration of the dominant historical narratives of the nation. The exhibition will open to the public with a special reception Saturday\, February 28 from 6 to 8pm. \nAnchored by major works by Kent Monkman and featuring powerful photographs by Cara Romero\, the exhibition reframes the language of commemoration through counter-history\, satire\, and the enduring power of Indigenous representation. Rather than treating 1776 as a fixed point of origin\, Ever-Changing Nations presents it as a contested beginning – shaped by displacement\, resistance\, and survivance that continue to define the present. \nBringing together an inter-generational group of leading Indigenous artists – including Cannupa Hanska Luger\, David Bradley\, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith\, Rick Bartow\, Fritz Scholder\, T.C. Cannon\, Richard Glazer-Danay\, Brad Kahlhammer\, Pop Chalee\, Rose Simpson\, Bob Haozous\, and Nicholas Galanin\, among others – the exhibition foregrounds Indigenous voices as central authors of American history rather than its subjects. Romero’s monumental portraits reassert presence\, dignity\, and contemporary identity\, while Monkman’s expansive history paintings overturn colonial narratives with wit\, scale\, and theatricality. \nA newly conceived multimedia and video installation by Virgil Ortiz expands his ongoing Pueblo Revolt 1680/2180 series into a cinematic realm of clay\, film\, sound\, and immersive storytelling. The work collapses time\, reframing Indigenous resistance not as a closed historical chapter\, but as an active\, unfolding continuum – one that reverberates across centuries and into the future. \nPresented in the gallery’s new Santa Monica space\, Ever-Changing Nations invites viewers to confront the past as living\, unfinished terrain and to imagine more just futures grounded in sovereignty\, memory\, and cultural continuity.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Through The Lens\, by Holly Wilson
DESCRIPTION:(Scottsdale\, AZ) Bonner David Galleries is pleased to announce Through the Lens\, a new exhibition by contemporary Indigenous artist Holly Wilson\, opening March 5 and on view through April 2 at the gallery in Scottsdale. The opening reception coincides with the annual Heard Museum Indian Market weekend and the Scottsdale Native Art Walk\, making it a vibrant moment for collectors and art lovers visiting the area. \nThe gallery will hold a special opening reception on Thursday\, March 5. Wilson will be on hand for the evening to meet with collectors\, discuss her work and provide insight into this new exhibition that includes works completed in bronze\, glass\, encaustic and paint. \nThrough the Lens explores how perspective and personal experience shape our understanding of the world. Drawing on the idea of multiple “lenses\,” from the literal lens of a camera to the metaphorical lens of human perception—Wilson invites viewers to reconsider how reality is formed\, interpreted\, and transformed. \n“From the lens of a camera to the lens of your eye\, we are constantly filtering what we see\,” Wilson explains. “Our experiences inform our perceptions\, creating our own version of reality. With this body of work\, I want to lift that veil for a moment—to open a space where viewers can glimpse possibilities across many realms\, both real and imagined.”

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: RONALD DAVIS: The Polar Series
DESCRIPTION:CHARLOTTE JACKSON FINE ART presents\nRONALD DAVIS: The Polar Series\nMarch 6 – 31\, 2026\nOpening reception on Friday\, March 6 from 5-7 p.m.\nGallery Talk: “A Conversation\, Remembering Ron Davis\,” with guest panelists Ron Cooper\, Jim Grant\, and Gary Wong on Saturday\, March 7 from 2-4 p.m.\n554 S. Guadalupe in the Railyard Art District. \nCharlotte Jackson Fine Art is honored to present a selection of pieces from Ronald Davis’s final body of work\, The Polar Series\, including the very last painting that Davis completed\, Timer. \nThe Polar Series is the result of a return to painting by Davis beginning in June of 2021. At that point he had not painted on canvas for about 15 years\, focused instead primarily on his computer generated Pixel Dust works. Davis’s initial foray with a rectangular format quickly shifted when\, as he says\, “as I worked\, the desire to “find the center” became my mission.” He drew inspiration from a 1963 tondo\, Target\, which with its alternate-colored\, light and dark bullseye seemed an apt format to explore\, as he puts it\, the “opposite poles of light-dark\, black-white\, up-down. I mounted the circles on square backings tipped 45 degrees as diamonds\, to better define their objecthood….” \nThis move itself is a part of the complex interweaving of paradoxes that run through The Polar Series. These opposites interact\, war\, and at times resolve within each piece. And yet what these paintings do is to take that richness of conflict and irresolution and refine it. To unfold the convoluted not by solving it\, but by illuminating it.

SUMMARY:Exhibition Opening: Bagatelles by Mattosse
DESCRIPTION:Public Reception: Friday\, March 6\, 5 – 7 pm \nArtist’s Q & A: Sunday March 22\, 3 pm \nBagatelles\, a painting and drawing exhibition by Silver City artist\, Mattoose\, opens on Thursday\, March 5. \nExcerpts by the artist:\n– For me the act of painting is a challenge. I do not set out to create a specific image or message from the start; I never know where I’m going. Rather\, the act of painting creates the painting and its idea. And\, if the challenge is good\, then the image just presents itself\, it’s a gift!\n-I aim for my work to transpose one’s attention and wonder to certain transcendental ideas; ideas that lie dormant in the depth of our objective consciousness.\n– I want my painting to feel as if it came instantly. So that\, in end\, there’s no idea to be interpreted\, rather a thing to be experienced.\n-At its best\, my work comes inexplicably and without method. \nExhibition Dates: March 5 – 28. \nGallery Hours: Thursday 11- 4\, Friday and Saturday 11-5\, Sunday 11- 3 and by appointment

SUMMARY:JUANA ESTRADA HERNÁNDEZ: LOS CAMINOS DE LA VIDA\, DESDE AQUI PARA ALLÁ
DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to come home? This is the question posed by Mexican printmaker Juana Estrada Hernández’s upcoming show at Hecho a Mano\, asking audiences to consider the complex ideas and emotions surrounding the concept of homecoming—especially when home isn’t something that can be readily returned to\, or taken for granted. \nHer second show at Hecho a Mano speaks directly to this theme. Inspired by the artist’s recent visit to her motherland of Zacatecas\, Mexico after a twenty-two year absence\, Estrada Hernández’s new show highlights and honors the idea of homecoming through a series of prints and ceramic pieces. “My solo exhibition at Hecho a Mano this spring shares my experience of reconnection\, joy\, and the complexity of what it means to come Home\,” Estrada Hernández says. She depicts realistic and chimerical scenes from Zacatecas\, as well as culturally significant places like Cerro de la Bufa\, a hill that lies to the east of historic downtown Zacatecas that captured her imagination during her recent visit.
