SUMMARY:Workshop: Mindful Making: Creating Wet-Felted Vessels
DESCRIPTION:The Historic Santa Fe Foundation is excited to present a one-day Wet-Felting workshop with Andrea Dupree. \nMindful Making: Creating Wet-Felted Vessels \nSaturday\, May 23\, 2026\, 1–4pm \n$125 (includes materials) \nJoin artist and educator Andrea Dupree for a hands-on wet felting workshop that blends fiber art techniques with mindfulness practices and creative exploration. Participants will learn to make wool vessels using water\, natural soap and wool. Wet felting is an ancient fiber art technique that transforms loose fibers\, such as wool\, into a dense\, durable\, non-woven fabric. \nThe class begins with a short grounding practice to help participants attune to breath\, body\, and materials. Throughout the session\, Andrea will guide you through the wet-felting process to create hollow vessels. We’ll explore the rich sensory elements of these materials and engage in a slow\, thoughtful process that honors the meditative nature of felting. \nNo prior experience is needed\, and all materials are provided. Come ready to work with your hands and leave with a one-of-a-kind felted vessel and a deeper connection to fiber and form. \nBio: \nAndrea Dupree is an eco-artist and educator based in the Pojoaque Valley. Her fiber-based artwork explores themes of interconnectedness and ecological attunement\, primarily using hand felting\, embroidery\, found\, and natural materials. With a background in Studio Arts (BFA) and Reggio-inspired Early Childhood Education (MA)\, Andrea is also a Registered Yoga Teacher who brings over 20 years of experience teaching art\, mindfulness\, and movement. Learn more about her work here: bluebird-art.com or instagram @andreadupree \nThe workshop will be held at El Zaguán\, located at 545 Canyon Road\, Santa Fe\, NM 87501. For more information\, please contact Anne Kelly at anne@historicsantafe.org.

SUMMARY:Retablo Printmaking with Jacob Gutierrez
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the New Mexico School for the Arts (NMSA)\, the UAM invites middle and high school students to create their own foam block prints in foil frames inspired by the retablos currently on display in Trinities of Heaven and Earth. Using foam to create their printing blocks\, participants will create multi-layered prints and then place them in pre-prepared foil frames. \nRegister here \nThis workshop is taught by artist and educator Jacob Gutierrez\, an Albuquerque printmaker who maintains a deep connection to his culture and traditions through his art\, exploring the practice of retablo making. Recently\, Gutierrez was the 2025 Artist in Residence at Albuquerque’s Risolana\, where the residency culminated in an exhibition of his artwork and publication of his artist book Sacred Herd. Additionally\, Gutierrez works as the ArtReach Coordinator at the NMSA\, where he works to connect NM students across the state with accessible arts workshops and experiences. \nThe NMSA is based in Santa Fe\, and is a four-year\, statewide\, public high school serving artist-scholars across New Mexico with a rigorous\, award-winning pre-professional arts and academics program. NMSA provides students in 9th through 12th grades with intensive\, pre-professional instruction in six major arts disciplines\, Creative Writing & Literature\, Dance\, Film & Cinematic Storytelling\, Music (voice or instrumental)\, Theatre\, and Visual Arts.

SUMMARY:Summer Camp: 25th Anniversary Kidz 2 Camp Golf Classic

SUMMARY:Workshop: Blend Poetry and Collage with Us
DESCRIPTION:In this three-hour workshop\, artist Deco will guide you to incorporate poetry to deepen one of the most basic art forms—collage. Let’s explore what scraps of paper cut from discarded magazines and catalogs can show us\, by incorporating poetry into our collages—to discover meanings hidden within our materials\, within our perspectives\, and within ourselves. Participants are invited to bring a favorite poem\, whether their own\, a beloved classic\, or a new favorite: some words that move you. As we work\, we will let the words shape the images and let the images imbue the words with new meanings. \nDeco is an award-winning collagist with decades of collage experience. She lived in Chicago most of her life and moved to Santa Fe in 2010\, to embrace the warmth and color of the Southwest. She has created still life\, portraits\, landscapes and starscapes in collage. Her work has been displayed in the White House. The State of New Mexico commissioned a collage to honor our state poets; this piece can be seen in the Tewa State Building in Albuquerque. She has embedded the poems and prose of Stevie Smith\, Shakespeare\, James Joyce and Abraham Lincoln into some of her collages. www.deco-collage.com
