SUMMARY:Exhibition Opening: It's all pipes
DESCRIPTION:It’s the end. I didn’t want to know. The pipes are calling. I’m not looking. \nBesides calling\, they’re getting dressed\, they’re making choices\, they’re making decisions and it’s based on something. They’re being watched and they don’t know. They’re looking at something and does this fit? The manual is here and they’re behaving.\nThere’s a story inside a story. The illusion of control. The slice of pie I selected\, the crumbs on the floor. \nBelieve me as pipes. They only exist if you see them. \nTaylor Engel (b. NY\, USA) is an interdisciplinary artist working in performance\, sculpture and installation. Her work has been featured in Southwest Contemporary’s Vol. 12 Obsession and has shown throughout various spaces in Albuquerque\, NM such as the Immanuel Presbyterian Fellowship Hall\, 1415\, Spectra Gallery\, Desert Mystery Center and a number of open spaces and stages throughout the city. She co-runs a monthly experimental presentation series called Presentation Series and participated in Cura and Michele Rizzo’s workshop Coalescing Towards(Rome\, 2025). They received an MFA in Sculpture from The University of New Mexico and a BFA in Graphic Design from Pratt Institute. \nRachel Bordeleau (b. WI\, USA) is an interdisciplinary artist and educator making work about place. Her current practice is rooted in Albuquerque\, New Mexico\, where she works with plants\, archives\, found objects\, image\, and projection to make sculptures and installations. Her practice is research-based and grows from lived experience\, offering stories about life and death cycles\, indeterminacy\, and change. She co-runs the monthly experimental presentation series\, Presentation Series\, and is a member of the SeedBroadcast artist collective. She holds an MFA in Art & Ecology from the University of New Mexico and a BS in Textiles and Fashion Design from the University of Wisconsin – Madison

SUMMARY:Performance: Dance Theatre of Harlem
DESCRIPTION:Dance Theatre of Harlem stands as a dynamic force in the ballet world\, captivating audiences both nationally and internationally. Their repertoire is a thrilling blend of treasured classics\, neoclassical masterpieces by George Balanchine and artistic director Robert Garland\, and cutting-edge contemporary works that embody founder Arthur Mitchell’s belief that ballet is for everyone. Through electrifying performances\, community engagement\, and arts education programs\, Dance Theatre of Harlem champions the power of the arts to inspire and empower. \nSince its founding in 1969 by Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook\, Dance Theatre of Harlem has been hailed as “one of ballet’s most exciting undertakings” (New York Times). Inspired by the work of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr.\, Mr. Mitchell established a school to provide Harlem’s youth with the opportunity to explore dance and the allied arts. Now celebrating over fifty-five years of excellence\, DTH has evolved into a globally renowned ballet company\, setting new standards in the performing arts and leaving an indelible mark on the world stage. Their extraordinary legacy continues to open doors for creative expression and artistic brilliance. \nEvent Sponsors: Gina Browning and Joe Illick in memory of Jinny Browning\nCatherine Oppenheimer

SUMMARY:Performance: The Wild Bloom: Spring Performance Series—Night 1
DESCRIPTION:The Wild Bloom is an immersive\, three-night event series that transforms Union Hall’s gallery into a dynamic stage for interdisciplinary\, boundary-pushing work. \nOn any given night you might discover a performance blending movement with poetry\, an interactive improv group\, or an unexpected\, comedic guided meditation. By inviting audiences into participatory\, socially engaged performances\, The Wild Bloom deepens connection to the arts in a space designed for creative experimentation and cultural dialogue. \nPurchase tickets for a single evening or upgrade to ticket packages for bigger savings! \nNight 1 Lineup—May 16 (in no order)\nKevin Hoth—Corporate Corpus Body Scan Meditation: Kevin Hoth will guide participants through a present-focused body scan meditation. Attention will move methodically from the toes to the crown (which may require some deep cleaning). Along the way\, subtle obstructions—those that interfere with one’s capacity to function smoothly within established consumerist systems—may be observed and released. \nElle Hong & Josh Ware—10SHINS // LIMBSCAPE: A contact improvisation for two bodies that affirms/dissolves a subject’s boundaries\, both through riding/interrupting momentum and sensing self through contact with another. \nKenzie Sitterud—Post-it Note from Patriot: Kenzie will perform a patriotic flag-retiring ceremony\, drawing on their research of the Flag Code\, while engaging the audience with a syncopated Pledge of Allegiance and a National Anthem soundtrack. The performance will be a hyper-patriotic ceremony as commentary on who and what is defined by patriotism held in accordance with the flag code. \nThe Wild Bloom is generously supported by Meow Wolf Denver. Food and beverages are provided by Ratio Beerworks and Whole Foods Market. \nImage credit: Elle Hong and Josh Ware\, photo by From the Hip Photo.
