Sail Away: Build Your Own Dream Boat
Using found assemblage materials, taught by Kathleen Koopman.
Using a variety of abundant recycled materials we will design and create a dreamy little sailboat. Discover the limitless possibilities of simple materials in your hands as they become vehicles for metaphor and exploration.
No experience needed, just a willingness to play with materials and your imagination, experiment and dream. Each participant will construct a little sailboat, using recycled materials: cardboard, papers (music and maps), fibers, twigs, twine and personal found objects. Materials provided include vintage linens, shells, buttons, etc.; participants are encouraged to bring small objects, charms, maps and symbols that express their personal boat building intention. Think masts, booms, keels, lines, anchors, knots…
Dates: Friday, March 21st, 5:00 – 6:00 pm + Saturday, March 22nd, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm
Cost: $165 (includes all materials).
