Thornwood Gallery Artist Demo with Matt Kaplinsky

Artist Matt Kaplinsky will be performing a painting demo in Thornwood Gallery’s sculpture garden (all day Sunday, July 16), as part of Santa Fe Art Week 2023 on Canyon Road. Kaplinsky’s art will also be featured at Thornwood Gallery (through July 2023).

Mr. Kaplinsky will provide a live painting demo and will be fielding questions (Q & A) from any good souls wishing to grill (while painting) this fun, multi-talented, multitasking, soul!

Kaplinsky creates original works, largely inspired by still lifes and landscapes. Reflections of various 19th and 20th-century masters can be seen in his 21st-century works, including such figures as Matisse, Monet, Degas, Van Gogh, and Robert Daughters. Mr. Kaplinsky is known for his vivid and considerably unique interpretation of still life, often permitting a subtle narrative or “figurative gestalt,” through an engaging culmination of different flora brought to life on canvas.

Working in oil on canvas, Kaplinsky references a vast multitude of flower species, while plein air painting from within the realm of his massive flower garden in Lantana, Texas.
