Please join us at the gallery for a live teleconference between artists Jugnet + Clairet and Philippe-Alain Michaud, art historian and curator, on the occasion of our current exhibition Jugnet + Clairet: D.A.A.A.

Philippe-Alain Michaud is curator at the Musée National d’Art Moderne – Centre Pompidou, Paris, in charge of the collection of films. He teaches the history and theory of film at the University of Geneva (UNIGE), Switzerland. He is the author of Aby Warburg and the Image in Motion (Zone Books, 2002), Le peuple des images (Desclée de Brouwer, 2004), Sur le film (Macula, 2016), Âmes primtives (Macula, 2019), Figures de film, de peluche et de papier (Macula, 2020), and has written extensively on the relations between film and the visual arts. He has curated a number of exhibitions among which: Comme le rêve le dessin (Musée du Louvre/Centre Pompidou, 2004), Le mouvement des images (Centre Pompidou, 2006), Nuits électriques (Photography Museum, Moscow, and LABoral Centro di Arte y Creación Industrial, Gijón, Spain, 2007), Tapis volants (Villa Medici, Rome, and Les Abattoirs, Toulouse, 2010), Images sans fin. Brancusi, film et photographie (Centre Pompidou, 2012, with Clément Cheroux and Quentin Bajac), Beat Generation (Centre Pompidou, 2016, with Rani Singh and Jean-Jacques Lebel), and most recently Brancusi: Sculpting Flight (Colosseum Archaeological Park, Rome, 2025.)

Jugnet + Clairet live near Santa Fe, New Mexico, where their experience of the American Southwest inspires and informs their work. They have been the subjects of exhibitions at prestigious institutions across Europe, including the Museum of Modern Art, Luxembourg, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Geneva, Switzerland, and the Centre Pompidou, Paris, institutions which also have the artists’ works in their collections. Working in multiple media, Anne Marie Jugnet and Alain Clairet direct their attention to the fringes of the image where information is scarce and often unnoticed, focusing on subjects as varied as the desert and television static noise. Since becoming an artist collective in 1997, they have elaborated a unique conceptual approach that functions according to a continuously reinvented process.
