Presented by the festival’s directors, Chelsea Werner-Jatzke and Rana San, this showcase features a collection of works from the Cadence Video Poetry Festival, a Seattle-based series of screenings, workshops, and discussions on the genre of video poetry during National Poetry Month.
Cadence approaches video poetry as a literary genre that exists as experimental film. This program demonstrates how video poetry makes new meaning from the combination of text and moving image. Whether a work starts from an image or a word, found footage or fragmented text, a dream or a drought, each of these video poems expands concepts of both the poetic and the experimental to evoke new understandings and touch on complex emotional realities.
A special program of Experiments in Cinema v20.0, which runs April 16–20, 2025 in Albuquerque. More information about the festival at www.experimentsincinema.org
