Raphaëlle Goethals: The Impossibility of Remembrance
June 17, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Turner Carroll Gallery is proud to announce its third solo exhibition by Raphaëlle Goethals, The Impossibility of Remembrance, opening June 17, 2022, when the artist will be in attendance.
Created in the last two challenging years, this group of paintings continues Goethals’ exploration into compositions and themes first introduced in the summer of 2020. Her complex and meticulous mark-making vibrates with a sense of rhythm and lyrical beauty offering viewers a range of psychological and aesthetic experiences. Within this time frame, our interconnectedness and vulnerabilities were pulled to the forefront of our consciousness in ways not felt for a generation.
“My paintings are rooted in memory and emotions; their complex layered surfaces build organically over time. We connect to the layered content the same way we are confronted to a pulsating interconnected multi-layered world.”
Raphaëlle Goethals was born and raised in Brussels, Belgium. She is a graduate of the Ecole le Septantecinq and immigrated to the United States in the early eighties to continue her studies at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. After a decade in LA, she moved to New Mexico where she developed her mature painting style. Goethals’ work is widely exhibited in the United States and Europe. Her paintings have been featured in numerous publications such as Wall Street International, University of Chicago Press, Visual Art Source, Architectural Digest, ArtNews, Art in America, Nexus, Glasstire, BlouinArtinfo, THE magazine, and various others. Her paintings have been featured at international art fairs in Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, and Miami, and are held in numerous distinguished corporate and private collections.
