For CPAC’s February’s online PhotoVox, hear from Caleb Cain Marcus, Creative Director of Brooklyn-based Luminosity Lab, as he presents “The Power of Books to Elevate Artists.”
“Books can communicate emotion and thought through narratives comprised of text and images. The books that are remembered have no separation between content and form. These are driven by strong collaboration and a passion to share a feeling or idea with the world. We’ll chat about how projects move from a pile of prints to completed books and strategies for assembling a team of collaborators who can help to create a book with a visual language that echoes the content and furthers the reach and audience of the artist. We’ll discuss how to approach publishers, finances, and what needs to be done once your book is out in world.”
Caleb Cain Marcus is the creative director of the Brooklyn-based studio Luminosity Lab, known for developing the creative strategy, and leading the design of publications for museums, galleries, publishers, and artists. He designed Carrie Mae Weems’ book published by Brown University fall of 2024. Some of his collaborators include Museum of the City of New York, Staten Island Museum, Damiani, Hatje Cantz, Kehrer, KGP, Saint Lucy Books, Schilt Publishing, and Workshop Arts.
This event will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2024, at 6:30 PM (MST) over Zoom. Free for CPAC members and $10 for non-members.
