“A painting is a dream for me, a 3D sculpture is a fact,” Pascal Pierme said in a recent interview, “I want to navigate gently in the “in-between,” between doubts and certitudes.”
In this upcoming show at GF Contemporary: Explorations, Pierme exhibits a new series of mahogany wooden wall sculptures. These new works certainly linger in the “in-between;” they hang on walls as three-dimensional artworks that render the motion and play of a drawing or painting. Pascal was born in Saint-Raphaël, France and has made Santa Fe his home for almost 25 years. As a young boy in the south of France, Pierme recalls the influence of his grandfather, an artist himself who worked with wood. “Wood seems to be a locus of nostalgia and invention simultaneously for my practice. I am dedicated to the promise of wood sculpture and its very materiality, its texture, tendencies, and fragrance, an enduring sentiment and memory.”
Please join us on Friday, September 25, 5-7 pm. at GF Contemporary, 707 Canyon Road, Santa Fe, **pending restrictions, check our website for up-to-date details.
