“A show dedicated to those who’ve crossed the veil.
And to the healing forces that help us prevail.”
“I already had a show slated for Spring 2025 at Lapis Room when my beloved dog Lincoln, suddenly and unexpectedly got diagnosed with Thyroid Carcinoma in March of 2024. During his final week of life, all I wanted was for him to feel safe, loved, and comforted. What resulted from his death was the formulation of this show. I didn’t know how to handle my immense pain and grief and the torturous days following his passing, except to think about what I would create for him if I were to design an altar to honor his life. I thought about my favorite flowers that only bloom at night (The Queen of the Night), nature symbols that represent death and rebirth. I thought about other people I’ve lost in my life that I deeply believe have sent me “signs” from “the other side” post-mortem. I thought about color, and how vibrant I would want this show to feel when all the pieces are hanging near one another.
We will all experience profound loss at some point in our lives. It’s what we signed up for in this “human experience.” I hope that “Plant Medicine” will bring some healing and comfort to those who see the show, and who have also experienced great loss. And as I’ve created each piece, my heart too slowly begins to heal.”
