Opening: Nancy Sutor: Moon Flower Offerings|Second Nature

No Man’s Land Gallery is pleased to present Nancy Sutor: Moon Flower Offerings|Second Nature. Living in an old adobe in Agua Fria Village for 30 + years, drawing and photography are Sutor’s mediums, and the garden and the natural world are her subjects. The wonders and mysteries of nature and the cycles of the seasons feed the images in these archival pigment ink prints.

Moon Flower Offerings are photographs of offerings, flowers, plants objects in bowls of water. Offerings made to the moon when its full and at other significant times. They commemorate events in time, in the inner and outer world, the seasons, with humans and with the rest of the nature.

The photographs in Second Nature are mirror images of plants mainly from Sutor’s garden. The surprising and magical results entrance with the colors and emotions, entities, architecture and patterns that emerge.

Sutor was born in Chicago and attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Moving to New Mexico in the mid 1970’s, she worked around the state as an Artist in Residence and taught at College of Santa Fe for many years. Her work has been featured in many solo and group exhibitions, she has executed several public art projects, and her studio work is held in public and private collections. Curatorial projects include exhibitions for Lannan Foundation, CSF and at Eidolon and other artist’s spaces.
