Opening: Maxine Helfman: Enigma

William Campbell Gallery is excited to announce Enigma: New Works by Maxine Helfman, on view this Fort Worth Art Dealers Association (FWADA) Spring Gallery Night.

Enigma includes a series of photo collages in which Helfman uses found objects, fabrics, and wardrobe to create open-ended, visually evocative narratives that defy any one place or time. The compositions combine portraiture with layers of still life, lettering, and other subtle yet powerful imagery to create vignettes that are at once familiar and unknown. By omitting overt references to specific geography or era, Helfman tells stories that engage viewers through lush forms, delicate lines, and dramatic color washes. Further, the enigmatic pieces invite viewers to reflect on a deeper level. Helfman says, “It is ultimately the viewer, through their personal experience and memories, that weaves together the stories.”
