Opening: Julian Brown: Surface Patterns

Nüart Gallery is pleased to present Surface Patterns, a solo exhibition of new work by Julian Brown, running from March 21st through April 6th, 2025, with an opening reception on Friday, March 21st , from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

Julian Brown’s paintings feature a series of abstract paintings that explore the interplay between personal history, cultural influences, and the spontaneity of the creative process.One of the most striking aspects of Brown’s new collection is his experimentation with monotype techniques. In this series, Brown paints on large sheets of polythene and prints the resulting images onto the canvas, creating delicate, translucent layers that can be viewed and manipulated. This new process adds a fresh texture to the work, blurring the line between painting and printmaking, while allowing for a sense of accident and discovery to shape the final piece.
