(N): L. Marta Andersson, Nate Massé, and Chase Stafford
December 13, 2019 - February 14, 2020
Southwest Contemporary announces (N), a three-person exhibition curated by artist and photographer Clayton Porter opening on Friday, December 13, 6-8 pm. The exhibition features the works of three Santa Fe-based artists, L. Marta Andersson, Nate Massé, and Chase Stafford, and will be on view through February 13 at Southwest Contemporary, 1414 W. Alameda St, Santa Fe. This is the third exhibition mounted as part of the art media company’s non-commercial exhibition program.
(N) is the international symbol for a newton, the unit of force needed to accelerate one kilogram the distance of one meter in the span of one second. This symbol is a scientific approach to describing a phenomenon that is hidden to the eye, but nonetheless observable. Although visual art is literally the inverse of an invisible force, like gravity it pervades human life as thoroughly as the force that keeps us tethered to the earth. (N) is not a thematic exhibition, but like the symbol for a newton, the artworks on display humbly and symbolically solidify what is the keystone of human civilization: the hidden force of creativity.
