Loving at Intersections: A Confessional

Loving at Intersections is a performing artist showcase that explores the complexities and distinct realities of living and loving as members of the BIPoC community.
Curated by Chicano spoken word artist Mateo Manual Vela in collaboration with the BIPoC youth poetry organization Sacred Voices and nonprofit arts space Union Hall, this event centers the love stories of BIPoC artists in all its forms — familial, communal, romantic, and ancestral.
Mateo Vela will be featuring selections from his forthcoming poetry chapbook, Love Letters I Never Sent.
Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Tickets are $10/each, with the option to add a $15 donation during check-out to receive a unique gift bag provided by Sacred Voices. For those who identify as part of the BIPOC community, Union Hall and Sacred Voices are providing 15 free tickets on a first come first serve basis. About Sacred Voices and Union Hall
Sacred Voices is a Denver-based, BIPOC+, youth-focused organization that was founded in 2004. Originally known as Cafe Cultura, Sacred Voices has worked tirelessly to promote unity and healing among Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC+) communities through creative expression while empowering youth to find their voice, power, and become leaders in their communities.
Founded in 2019, Union Hall is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts exhibition space, with the mission of advancing opportunities for diverse, emerging artists and showcasing exhibitions while providing the community with accessible creative experiences. Union Hall was also created to be a multi-purpose, flexible space that welcomes interdisciplinary events of all kinds, including film screenings, live concerts, dance performances and more.
