Kelly Frye, Darby Raymond-Overstreet, and A. Thompson

January 22, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Gallery Hózhó at Hotel Chaco welcomes Kelly C. Frye, Darby Raymond-Overstreet, and A. Thompson for the opening reception on Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 4 to 6 pm.

Working in painting, ceramics, and metal casting, Kelly Caroline Frye graduated from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with a BFA in Studio Arts and a minor in Indigenous Liberal Studies. A contemporary visual artist of Tesuque Pueblo and of Mescalero Apache descent, she works at IAIA as an Area Coordinator while also continuing her exploration of Southwest history through the arts.

Darby Raymond-Overstreet (Diné), an award-winning digital artist and printmaker, reconceives Diné (Navajo) patterns through portraits, landscapes, and abstract forms. She has a B.A. in Psychology and Studio Art from Dartmouth College. Her work is heavily inspired by Diné textiles, especially the rugs and blankets from the late 1800s through the 1950s.

A.Thompson (ATA) is a self-taught artist from Dinétah (Navajo Reservation) who has been creating art for more than a decade. Exploring serigraphy (silkscreens), silversmithing, sculpturing, and painting, she often includes found materials into her work, including twigs, feathers, and even sneakers. She was studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago until she had to relocate due to the pandemic.
