Reception: John Nieto: Images of Ancestry

LewAllen Galleries presents a reception for John Nieto: Images of Ancestry on Friday, August 18, 5-7 pm during Indian Market weekend. Nieto’s wife, Renay Nieto, and son, Anaya Nieto, will attend the reception. John Nieto (1936 – 2018) was known as a brilliant colorist whose paintings provide a visual language that captivates and enraptures viewers. On view are a selection of richly modulated images of Indigenous warriors, fancy dancers, chieftains, potters, weavers, and other craftspeople, as well as portraits of contemporary and historical icons.
