An evening of live musical acts, 16mm film, VHS, and audio/visual exploration of American western kitsch, fate, hot springs, and dreams. Performers include Hedia (the expansive music of multi-instrumentalist Bryce Hample), Flute Loops (an anarchic amateur flute ensemble performing a live score to the 1960 short film “Dream of the Wild Horses”), Antonio Márquez (singer/songwriter/vaquero and writer/director of “¡Baca the Kid!”), and Jenette Isaacson (performing Marilyn Monroe’s “One Silver Dollar”).
The event will raise funds to help cover the cost of developing and scanning rolls of 16mm motion picture film shot for an artist-made Hot Tub Western. The film is a silent experimental narrative short with characters and scenes devised by an ensemble of filmmakers and artists including Jenette Isaacson, Beth Hansen, Alys Griego, Chandler Wigton, Lacey Chrisco, Holly Adams, Joe Reeves, feminist media activist and legend Ariel Dougherty, and more. The film was shot in Truth of Consequences, NM in spring of 2024 and is currently in the processing and editing stage with plans to premiere in 2025.
