Core Contemporary is proud to present the opening reception of Luminous Flux: When Light is Scene, a solo exhibition by Las Vegas-based artist Dan Brady on Friday, June 9, 2023, 6-9 pm. The exhibition explores Brady’s visual storytelling through monotone paintings, whose contents are unseen until lit from behind. The exhibition is on view through July 21, 2023.
An innovative mixed-media artist, Brady has created white painted canvases that hide their imagery until “triggered” in some way by the viewer. These paintings explore the notion that artwork does not exist without a viewer. Placed in a gallery setting, the work appears, at first glance, to be calm, meditative abstracts, textured paintings; however, as the viewers interact with the work, they reveal powerful imagery, surreal worlds, and even comedic critiques of modern culture.
“We are excited to include an exhibition of Brady’s work in our schedule this year,” said gallerist/curator Nancy Good. “It represents the gallery’s ongoing efforts to explore a broad range of contemporary conceptual works by talented and dedicated local and regional artists.”
Brady will also present an in-person artist’s talk during the closing reception on July 21, 2023, 6-9 pm.
