Exhibiting artist Nikesha Breeze will read from their published, powerful A Mutiny of Morning: Reclaiming the Black Body from the ‘Heart of Darkness‘—which has taken pages from Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness and reclaimed them in poetic form, illuminating the invisible Black voices inside in a radical, surgical, and unapologetic Black appropriation. After the live reading will be an audience Q&A session.
The book continues Breeze’s exploration of the themes present in their installation for New Worlds: New Mexico Women to Watch 2024. Copies will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
