GENERAL FUNCTION
Top-ranked contemporary art gallery in the Santa Fe Railyard Arts Districts seeks Full-Time Sales Associate. This dynamic role is an opportunity to develop an array of skills in the gallery world, including digital and in-person sales; and research, writing and talking about contemporary art.
This role, which completes our two-person sales team, is primarily focused on the gallery’s robust digital sales efforts. It is also a support role for our other sales associate, who is more focused on in-person sales efforts.
As part of the sales department, you’ll collaborate with our staff to develop and enact new sales strategies as the market evolves. You should be prepared to hit the ground running on a number of innovative sales strategies. With passion and diligence you’ll conduct work in two areas:
– Enacting digital sales efforts. This includes crafting engaging responses to online sales inquiries, generating new leads through vigorous digital outreach efforts, and helping manage our customer and artwork databases across various platforms. You’ll close sales via email, phone and DM. (This is a primary responsibility.)
– Conducting in-person sales. This includes guiding visitors and small groups through the collection and closing in-person sales. (This is a secondary responsibility.)
This role involves some administrative tasks such as directing inbound phone calls and preparing monthly sales reports. Strong research, writing and organizational skills are required. Though fine art sales experience is a plus, we’re also drawn to less-experienced candidates with knowledge of contemporary art, craft and/or printmaking.
REQUIREMENTS
-Strong research, writing and organizational skills.
-Experience as a Sales Associate OR fine art knowledge and a strong interest in pursuing a career in fine art sales.
GALLERY-SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE (Helpful, but not required)
-Experience with generation of digital sales content such as (individual and mass) emails, pitch packets or private viewing rooms.
-Experience with online fine art sales platforms such as Artsy, Artnet and 1stDibs.
-Knowledge of fine art prints, as we maintain a collection focused on editioned works on paper by contemporary printmakers.
-Knowledge of contemporary craft and/or design, as we exhibit artists, craftspeople, and designers who work across mediums and disciplines.
