Art Space Assistant/Social Media Coordinator
Full time position, 40 hours/week
Regular schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm
Location: Through the Flower Art Space, 107 Becker Avenue, Belen, New Mexico, 87002
Starting salary range: $25,000 – $30,000/year
The Art Space Assistant/Social Media Coordinator will work closely with the Art Space Director and other colleagues to conduct research, organize exhibition projects, enrich the permanent collection, develop interpretive materials, participate in community outreach, communications, and implementing a strong social media presence through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, e-blasts and print material.
Primary duties include but are not limited to:
Social Media Outreach: Work with Art Space Director to develop and implement a strong social media plan for Through the Flower, generating exciting content for our various platforms and engage the public/growing TTF’s following. This will involve designing visual assets to be used for promotional materials (both online and printed) and monitoring Through the Flower’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts. The position will require liaising with Judy Chicago’s social media coordinator/studio assistant.
Art Space Maintenance: Assist in successfully running the Art Space. This includes providing tours of the exhibitions, explaining in detail the history and mission of Through the Flower, speaking concisely about Judy Chicago’s work in the context of contemporary art and art history, and having experience in retail for the gift store in the Art Space.
Website Maintenance: Assist in keeping the website current. This includes creating visuals for events, listing opportunities and new products as they arise, and keeping track of the online shop inventory.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, etc.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and remain flexible with changing priorities
Ability to work weekends and special events outside of regular work week
Familiarity and knowledge of various social media platforms, especially Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
A Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Graphic Design, or Marketing
Knowledge of art and art history, especially as it relates to the history of Judy Chicago and her work
Knowledge of Photoshop and/or Illustrator
Experience with Adobe Premiere or other video editing software
Experience working with WordPress and basic website maintenance
