About
The Fine Arts Center grew out of and expanded on the mission of the esteemed Broadmoor Art Academy, founded in 1919, to become one of the only multidisciplinary arts institutions in the nation. Today it remains an amazing rarity housing an accredited museum, professional theater company, and a year-round art school for all ages. The Fine Arts Center's mission is to celebrate and challenge our understanding of place, uplift artists from the past, present, and future, and amplify art’s capacity to shape our work and inspire new possibilities. The organization aims to foster connections among communities through integrated multidisciplinary art experiences.
The 132,286 square-foot museum hosts numerous exhibitions each year, many featuring works from the FAC’s significant permanent collection, bringing a wide variety of art experiences to Colorado Springs. The collection features many masterworks by top modern American artists, including Richard Diebenkorn, Georgia O'Keeffe, Walt Kuhn, John Singer Sargent, and Dale Chihuly, as well as artists connected to the Broadmoor Art Academy. The Fine Arts Center also has one of the strongest Hispanic, Latin American, and Native American collections in the nation.
